Privacy Policy

This policy explains how the Chabad Calendar app (the “App”) uses information. The App provides a Hebrew calendar, daily times, daily study readings, personal events, and optional calendar synchronization.

Information stored on your device

Display preferences, your selected location, personal events, and study-tracking progress are stored locally in the App or browser. This information is not sent to Chabad Calendar operators through the app server. Clearing app data or uninstalling the App may delete locally stored information.

Location and daily-time calculations

If you choose to use your current location, the App requests foreground location permission. You can also choose a city or enter a location manually. Location is used to display daily times. To search for cities and obtain time-zone and daily-time information, the App contacts Open-Meteo and Hebcal with the search details or coordinates, date, and time zone needed for the calculation. These services may also receive ordinary technical request data, such as an IP address, subject to their policies.

On the website, when GPS is used, coordinates are also sent to BigDataCloud to display the city name. On Android, the city name is obtained using the device's location services.

Google Calendar synchronization

Synchronization is optional. On Android, the App requests calendar permission on the device and reads or writes events in the selected Google calendar through Android's calendar service. On the website, Google sign-in requests the relevant OAuth permissions to read and write the selected calendars. Synchronized events are stored in your Google account and are subject to Google's privacy policy. You can revoke permissions through your device settings or Google Account.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, the App schedules local reminders on your device for events and content you have configured. Reminders are scheduled on the device; the App does not use a remote push-notification service for this purpose.

Advertising and external links

The App supports manually managed banner and opening-screen campaigns. When a campaign server is configured, the App requests public campaign content from it. Advertising images and videos may load from the app operator's media storage or from an external HTTPS URL specified in a campaign; these requests may expose an IP address and technical connection data to the hosting provider. The App does not integrate an ad network and does not use an advertising ID for personalization. Aggregate click counts are recorded by campaign, placement (banner or popup), and day. Click-count requests do not include a user ID, location, or calendar contents; impressions are not measured. The service may retain technical connection data in logs. Clicking an ad may open an external website, which is governed by its own privacy policy. The website or campaign-server hosting provider may process technical connection data under its own policy.

Sharing, retention, and deletion

App operators do not receive your local events and preferences through the app server. Information sent to an external service is used to provide the action you requested, such as calculating daily times or synchronizing a calendar. Google Calendar events should be managed or deleted in Google Calendar; local information can be deleted through the App or device settings.

Children

The App is a general calendar and study service and is not intended to knowingly collect personal information from children. Parents or guardians may contact us if they believe information was sent unnecessarily.
